Our 2nd annual indie dyer extravaganza brings trunk shows from 10 dyers across the country into the shop for a weekend of yarn elegance and color whimsy! We are excited to bring a huge selection of yarns from dyers not typically found in this area. Unlike a fiber festival, here for the weekend and gone afterwards, Knit Locally is proud to offer our amazing customer service year round. So come to Gala and fall in love with new yarns and colorways, and count on Knit Locally to offer continued support for your project. Join us at our weekly knit nights every Wednesday and Thursday, or swing by when you drop a stitch or need project help.

This year’s featured dyer is Despondent Dyes, who will be attending gala in person on Friday and Saturday to help with your yarn selection, and has also dyed a custom color for our VIP event!

About Despondent Dyes:

The seed of Despondent Dyes was planted four years ago when Kathy said, “I’m thinking about learning to dye yarn” and Hannah said “Look at this dye retreat I just read about!”

A whole lotta yarn and knitting later, Despondent Dyes has grown from a one woman show to a two woman show! Kathy and Hannah have been knitting and slinging yarn for more than a little while, and our favorite part is seeing our yarn knit up into your next project. And also naming the yarn — that never gets old! Sometimes the yarn comes first, and sometimes the name comes first — no need to be particular about that! Vintage Vixen was the first yarn base to be designed as a whole palette with 1950s inspired names, and it is Kathy’s favorite of all the yarns ever.

In addition to yarn, Kathy and Hannah are also obsessed with the plastic free movement and a return to an older set of skills. When we aren’t knitting you are sure to find us baking bread, brewing ginger beer, or mending socks.  We are also dedicated to making sure our yarn comes from animal friendly sources and reuse and recycle as much packaging as possible.

We are Despondent Dyes, and we set our colors with the acidity of our bitter tears.  Hope you enjoy our yarn as much as we do!
