Class: I LOVE Crochet Cables with Bonnie Barker

I LOVE Crochet Cables with Bonnie Barker

Saturday, May 26

1 – 4 pm

1 session, 3 hours

$45

Description:

In this class, we will cover many different crochet cables; some using post stitches (Wheat Cable, 4-Post Cable, Honeycomb Cable, Celtic Weave) and some that are worked vertically (Cable Stitch, Arrow Stitch, Low Front Ridge, Knurl.) You will be amazed at how easy it can be to make these beautiful crocheted textures using the crochet hooks you already love. You will leave with many new swatches (and written instructions) plus ideas of how to combine these together into beautiful cabled designs.

Skill Level:

Intermediate

Special Skills Required:

Attendees should be familiar with the basic crochet stitches (sc, dc, tr, slip st, ch) and be able to crochet them in rows without adding or decreasing stitches unintentionally. Confident beginners are welcome to attend if they are able to do the above.

Homework:

It would be very helpful to make at least 6 swatch foundations as follows: “Ch 21, dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch across.” This can be done using lighter colored worsted or DK size yarn and the appropriate crochet hook. Any yarn from your stash like this will do. Be sure you have enough yardage to complete 6-10 small swatches

Supplies:

Enough yarn to complete at least 6 to 10 sample swatches and the appropriate hooks for yarn selected

Registration Deadline:

Wednesday, May 23

About the pattern:

From the designer: This sweater sums up my ideal raglan pullover: worked from the top down, completely seamless, and just a little bit of texture to make it fit into a more modern wardrobe! Adjust the length of the sleeves and the body easily to fit your personal style!

The So-Faded sweater is an ideal beginner sweater project – easy to knit, seamless, and a top-down construction that allows the knitter to try-on the sweater as they go for a perfect fit. The pattern comes in a large range of sizes, from 30″ to 58″ bust. There is also a children’s pattern, if you prefer to knit for a smaller human. The sweater is knit in fingering weight yarn, which makes for a light sweater perfect for spring/summer evenings. The fading effect is created by blending hand-dyed speckled or variegated yarns. It is easy to customize to use as many colors of yarns as you like. Choose from a cropped length or full-length body, and 3/4 or full-length sleeves.

Project Idea: Allodola Shawl by Heather Zoppetti

Project Idea: Allodola Shawl by Heather Zoppetti

The Allodola Shawl, knit in two colors of Oink Pigments Nimbus

Our latest shop sample is a stunner! The Allodola Shawl by Heather Zoppetti uses a clever combination of slipped and cabled stitches to create a unique geometric pattern, while short rows create a fun ruffled edge. The design is perfect to highlight a hand-dyed variegated yarn combined with a complimentary solid or tonal. It is easy to adjust the size or length, as it is knit from edge to edge…simply follow the increases to the desired size, then start decreasing back down!

We knit ours in our new yarn, Nimbus from Oink Pigments. This Merino / Nylon / Cashmere blend is OH.SO.SOFT! Please feel free to come in and touch it for yourself to experience the luscious softness and the beautiful halo. Beth thoroughly enjoyed knitting with it — it’s very easy on your hands! Beth used Oink Pigments Nimbus in the variegated colorway “4 Play” and the solid colorway “Sex&Violets.” You can purchase this combo below (Combination 9) or go for a sparkle version of the same colors!
