"Age of Brass
and Steam" is an easy shawl, knit by over 9800 people. And
it's a free pattern on Ravelry. We've done it in 2 different yarns,
and modified the pattern slightly for both samples:
#1 is knit in Berroco's Folio Luxe,
an alpaca blend infused with glittering metallic strands, for a subtle
sheen, with 219 yards. Its a very fine fingering weight, so we knit
with it held double, to make a quick-knitting shawl. Our sample used
4 skeins. This yarn is available in 6 colorways.
#2 is knit in Amano's Mayu, a blend
of 60% royal alpaca, 20% cashmere, and 20% silk. This absolutely luscious
yarn is spun and hand-dyed in Peru, and is available in several colorways.
Our sample used 4 skeins and was knit with a size 7 needle. Can't wear
wool - this yarn's for you!
